Dr. Long joined Parker Adventist hospital after completing his bariatric surgical fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a leader in innovative, minimally invasive surgical training. During his tenure there he participated in the development of novel laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques in addition to mastering sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en-Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, advanced endoscopy and revisional bariatric surgery.-

Center of Excellence Designation
The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Center of Excellence designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
To earn a Center of Excellence designation, Parker Adventist Hospital undergoes a series of site inspections during which all aspects of the program’s surgical processes are closely examined and data on health outcomes are collected.
Surgical Review Corporation (SRC), the organization dedicated to pursuing surgical excellence, formulates and establishes the rigorous standards with which The Bariatric & Metabolic Center and Parker Adventist Hosptial must comply, thoroughly inspects and evaluates each candidate for designation, and upon review, recommends approval of designation for those physicians and facilities whose practices and outcomes meet the stringent demands set forth by SRC for ASMBS.
